Using the service

nameroni checks whether a candidate business or product name appears usable across domains, trademarks, and social handles, and (where a paid tier includes it) suggests alternative names that have already been checked the same way. Results are informational. See the privacy policy & disclaimer for what that does and doesn't mean.

Prohibited uses

You may not use nameroni to research, name, brand, or launch a business involved in, or use a candidate name that promotes or references:

• Illegal drugs or controlled substances, including their manufacture, sale, or distribution
• Weapons, explosives, or other systems designed to cause harm, where illegal to produce, sell, or acquire
• Human trafficking, exploitation, or any sexual content involving minors
• Fraud, scams, or any deceptive business model, including multi-level marketing and pyramid schemes
• Predatory lending — payday loans, title loans, or other high-interest short-term lending aimed at people with few other options
• Terrorism or violent extremism
• Any other activity illegal in the jurisdiction where the business operates

By submitting a name, you represent that the business it's for doesn't fall into any of these categories. We reserve the right to refuse or terminate service for any submission we reasonably believe does, without prior notice and without refund, and to report activity to law enforcement where appropriate. Some submissions are screened automatically before any lookup runs; a false match can be appealed by contacting the project owner.

This list is illustrative, not exhaustive — it exists to describe the actual boundary, not to enumerate every case. Actively helping launch or rebrand a business in any of these categories isn't something this service will do, regardless of tier or payment.

Sensitive or regulated industries we'll still serve, with caveats

Several categories of legitimate business get extra caveats in the report rather than a plain "clear" or "taken," because the normal result would be misleading:

• Cannabis / marijuana: federal trademark registration is generally unavailable regardless of state legality (the USPTO requires "lawful use in commerce" under federal law, including the Controlled Substances Act). A "no matching mark found" result gets this caveat attached rather than reading as clear.
• Firearms, adult content, gambling, and crypto/financial services: these industries commonly face additional restrictions from payment processors, domain registrars, and the affiliate partners linked from this site, independent of whether the underlying business is legal. A clean result from us doesn't mean every downstream service (payment processing, a specific registrar, an affiliate program) will treat the business the same way.

Payment and tiers

Current pricing (subject to change): $3 for a single report, $12 for a 5-pack, $20 for a 10-pack, $29/month for Pro, $149/month for Agency. Specific refund and cancellation terms aren't finalized yet.

Both the product and these terms may change as this evolves from a prototype into something more finished.
